Coach Tommy Woodburn


High School Career

Coach Tommy is a 2012 graduate of West Islip High School, where he earned varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball. It was not until 11th grade until Coach decided forego his soccer career, and to begin his football career. He earned the starting job as the teams kicker and punter his junior and senior year. During his senior season, Coach Tommy had the 2 longest field goals in Suffolk County, and was named to MSG Varsity All Metro List.


College Career

Coach Tommy decided to pursue his academic and athletic career at Utica College. At Utica, he won the starting kicking job as a freshmen, and played all 41 games of his career. During his senior year, Woodburn handled all kicking and punting duties, where he had statistically one of the best kicking single seasons in Division III history. Coach was named to the AFCA Coaches III 1st Team All American, becoming the first to do so in program history.

  • Led all of Division I,II, III with 22 field goals made in 10 games in  2015 season (NCAA Division III Record). ● NCAA Division III record with average of 2.2 field goals per game. ●  2015 Second Team Associated Press Little All American Team. ●  2015 2nd Team All American ●  2015 All Region Selection ●  2015 Instant Scouting First Team All American ●  2015 USA Football First Team All American ●  2015 ECAC 1st Team North Region All Star ●  2015 Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Year ●  Fred Mitchell Award Finalist for Most Outstanding Place Kicker in  Nation (2015) ●  Attended National Bowl in Miami, Florida (D3, D2, D1  AA) Special Teams MVP ● Ranked top 3 NFL Small School Prospect in 2016 Draft ● Invited to Gary Zauner Senior Specialist NFL Combine ●  Empire 8  Conference Special Teams Player of the Week 3x in 2015 (5x in career). ● 3x ECAC Regional Special Teams Player of the Week in 2015 (5x in  career). ● 1x National Player of the Week in 2015 (2x in career). ● Holds College and Conference All Time Leader in points scored (232),  Field Goals Made (41-18th in NCAA Division III Record Book), Extra  Points Made (106). ● Holds College and Conference Single Season Records for Field Goals  Made (NCAA Record 22), Points in a season (90), Extra Points made (36). ● Holds College and Conference Single Game Records for Most Field Goals in single game (5), Most points scored by a kicker (16). ● All conference selection as freshmen (2012).


Post College Career

Coach Tommy has dedicated his time now as a kicking and punting coach, guiding student athletes to one day play for a college football program. He was an assistant coach at his Alma mater at West Islip High School, where he coached special teams and specialists on the JV and Varsity levels. He recently coached with former Syracuse Kicker Ricky Krautman of Krautman Kicking, training kickers all over the state of New Jersey.
